I feel much honor and privilege to be an important part of your learning process. I believe every student has the ability to learn and grow if given the opportunity. I promise to do my very best to accommodate your needs for learning and understanding. We will work together as a team in our science classroom.

"Salmon in the classroom"

Creating Partnerships with the community

Flint River Valley Steelheaders and Trout Unlimited (Charles A. Fellows Chapter)

Mrs. Hillaker and Dr. Mark Miller
of (Trout Unlimited) set up the salmon tank.

Thanks to the Flint River Valley Steelheaders and Trout Unlimited (Charles A. Fellows Chapter) the Riley Science classroom will be raising salmon in the classroom. This program is very exciting because it allows the students to learn "hands-on" about our state’s freshwater resources. This learning experience allows students to raise, care for, and maintain the salmon in the classroom from fall until spring, followed by release of the salmon into a local watershed that feeds into the great lakes. The Flint River Valley Steelheaders and Trout Unlimited generously donated all the equipment to make this program possible.
