Beecher Community Schools Welcomes U.S. Representative Kristen McDonald Rivet

Today, Beecher Community Schools had the honor of welcoming the Honorable Kristen McDonald Rivet, U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 8th District, to Beecher High School. She was joined by Superintendent Dr. Jendayi Gardner, school board members Marvin Smoot and Roshawnda Williams.  Matt Rizik joined the group and a host of students and staff

Stakeholders highlighted the transformative impact of cutting-edge technology—not only on their own roles but, most importantly, on student success and the future of the district.

Students shared their experiences and aspirations related to the Smart Lab and the new Beecher High School, offering heartfelt insights into how these innovations are shaping their learning journey.

Dr. Gardner then outlined the district’s Academic Action Plan, which includes:

  • A focus on School Success

  • Implementation of a viable curriculum

  • Introduction of a new instructional specialist

  • Emphasis on cooperative learning

  • A laser-like focus on data-driven instruction

She also presented the district’s Student Experience Program of Study, which connects student coursework with career pathways and real-world learning.

The visit continued with updates on the construction of the new Beecher High School. Before-and-after photos showcased the impressive progress being made toward a modern learning environment.

The event concluded with a Q&A session, where Representative Rivet engaged directly with attendees, followed by a site visit to the new high school building.

Beecher Community Schools extends its sincere gratitude to Representative Kristen McDonald Rivet for her support and contributions to the bright future of our district.
