Meet Monica Hicks Jackson, one of our newest BUCS! Monica is Joining Beecher High School as a Guidance Counselor!

Part counselor, part cheerleader, part problem-solver, and 100% committed to seeing our students WIN! ❤️🤍

Whether it’s talking through life, figuring out what comes after high school, getting those applications done, or simply reminding a student, “You got this,” she’s willing to go the extra mile… and then probably another mile after that. 😂💪🏾

If there’s a goal, she’s helping build the plan. If there’s a barrier, she’s looking for a way around it. And if a student succeeds, just know she’s somewhere celebrating like it’s her own accomplishment! 🎉🙌🏾

Because around here, success isn’t just the destination! We’re making sure our BUCS have somebody in their corner every step of the way! ❤️🤍

We're excited to welcome Monica to Beecher High School and our BUC family!

As our Beecher Community Schools family prepares for another exciting year, we are thrilled to welcome students, families, staff, and community members to our "Bringing Back the Bucs" Back-to-School Rally 2026! This celebration is more than just a back-to-school event. It is an opportunity to reconnect, build community, and showcase the exciting progress happening throughout our district.

Families enjoyed an afternoon filled with fun and excitement, including backpack giveaways, bounce houses, yard games, a live DJ, face painting, pony rides, a petting zoo, food, and activities for the entire family. The event also provided enrollment opportunities for new families interested in becoming part of the Beecher Community Schools family.

This year is particularly special as we celebrate a historic milestone for our district with the opening of our new Beecher High School and new Beecher Middle School. These remarkable facilities represent our unwavering commitment to providing world-class learning environments where every scholar can excel. We are incredibly proud of the investment in our students and the bright future these buildings symbolize for the Beecher community.

In addition to opening new schools, we are excited to launch two rigorous and highly engaging instructional programs that will strengthen student achievement across the district. Our students and teachers will begin implementing Bridges in Mathematics, a research-based mathematics program that develops deep conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. We are also rolling out CKLA (Core Knowledge Language Arts), a comprehensive literacy curriculum designed to build strong reading, writing, speaking, and knowledge-building skills across grade levels. Together, these innovative approaches will provide students with the academic foundation needed to succeed in college, careers, and life.

From cutting-edge learning opportunities in our SmartLab and STEAM programs to new facilities and high-quality instructional resources, Beecher is moving forward with purpose, excellence, and pride. The momentum across our district reflects the hard work of our students, staff, families, Board of Education, and community partners who believe in the promise of every child.

We are doing BIG things at Beecher! Together, we are creating outstanding opportunities for our scholars, strengthening our schools, and building a future filled with achievement, innovation, and Buccaneer pride.

Beecher Bucs Explore Science in Action!

Beecher High School Summer School Field Trip to the Detroit Science Center

Beecher Community School District is proud to highlight an exciting, science-filled adventure as Beecher High School summer school students took a memorable field trip to the Detroit Science Center!
Students had the opportunity to explore interactive exhibits, engage in hands-on learning experiences, and witness science come to life beyond the classroom walls. From space exploration to physics experiments, the visit sparked curiosity, creativity, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Field trips to science centers are essential because they:

Bring classroom concepts to life through hands-on learning
Increase student engagement and curiosity in STEM subjects
Provide real-world connections that deepen understanding
Encourage collaboration, exploration, and critical thinking

Summer school learning becomes even more impactful when students can experience science in meaningful and exciting ways—and Beecher students did just that!
Student & Staff Reflections

According to Ms. Turner,

“These kids were fabulous.”

Student Jaivon Moore shared his excitement:

“The museum is so exciting and cool. I wish we can do more trips like this next year. It was fun and I learned that Pluto is now a dwarf planet.”

A Day of Learning & Fun
The day was filled with exploration, discovery, and joy. Students were treated to lunch and enjoyed spending time outdoors, building relationships, and learning beyond the classroom.

Special Thanks
A huge thank you to:

Ms. India Boone
Ms. Turner
Ms. Rankins
The entire Beecher High School Summer School Staff

Your dedication made this experience possible for our students!

Beecher Pride in Action!
Another powerful moment from the trip showed the true character of Beecher Bucs. When a toddler became separated and ran through the museum, Gorjyss Biddle-Walton quickly stepped in, calmly assisting the child back to his parents.
A big congratulations to Ms. Biddle-Walton for her quick thinking and care in preventing a potentially dangerous situation. Awesome job!

GO BUCS! Beecher Proud!
This field trip is just one more example of how Beecher Community Schools continues to provide engaging, innovative, and meaningful learning experiences for all students.
