Celebrating Our Outstanding Food Service Teams
Beecher High School & Dailey Elementary

Today we proudly celebrate and uplift the incredible Food Service Teams across the Beecher Community School District! ❤️
From the early mornings to the final lunch bell, our food service professionals are the heartbeat of our schools. Their work goes far beyond preparing meals—they fuel our scholars’ success every single day.

Why Their Work Matters:

Nourishing Minds for Learning: A healthy meal powers focus, energy, and academic achievement. Our teams ensure every student is ready to learn and thrive.

Creating a Welcoming Environment: The cafeteria is more than a place to eat—it’s a place where students feel cared for, supported, and part of a community. And a chance to be kids/goofy

Consistency & Care: Rain or shine, our teams show up with dedication, ensuring every child has access to nutritious meals they can count on.

Behind-the-Scenes Excellence: From planning menus and managing inventory to meeting health standards and serving with a smile—their work keeps our district running smoothly.

A Special Shout-Out
To both teams at Beecher High School and Dailey Elementary — you are truly exceptional! Your ability to not only provide meals but cook with heart, skill, and pride does not go unnoticed. Our students and staff look forward to the care you put into every dish.
You are essential to the daily operations of our schools. Quite simply, Beecher would not be Beecher without you.

At Beecher Community School District – Beecher High School, students in Mrs. Hall’s science class are actively engaging in applied environmental science through their preparation for Project GREEN, a collaborative initiative with the Flint River Watershed Coalition. Project GREEN (Generating Resource and Environmental Education Network) is a regional, field-based program that provides students with authentic opportunities to investigate the health of local water systems while contributing to community-based environmental stewardship.

As part of their preparation, students have developed proficiency in a comprehensive suite of water quality testing protocols, including the measurement of pH, nitrates, phosphates, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, temperature, fecal coliforms, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), and total solids. These parameters are essential indicators of aquatic ecosystem health and are widely used by environmental scientists, engineers, and public health professionals to assess water quality and identify potential sources of pollution.
Great job... GO Bucs! See you in the field Thursday

Lunch & Learn: Understanding the Impact of Childhood Trauma
Beecher Community School District invites staff, families, and community members to join us for a very important Lunch and Training Session focused on Understanding the Impact of Childhood Trauma.
At Beecher, we recognize that trauma can deeply affect the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of our scholars and their families. This session will provide insight, support strategies, and resources to help us better serve every child.
Why This Matters:
Children have voices—and their experiences matter. Addressing trauma is essential to helping our students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
Important Facts About Childhood Trauma:

Trauma can affect a child’s brain development, behavior, and ability to learn
Students experiencing trauma may show signs such as difficulty focusing, withdrawal, or disruptive behavior
Unaddressed trauma can impact academic success, relationships, and long-term health
Supportive adults and strong school-home partnerships can help build resilience and healing

Together, we can create a caring, informed, and empowered community that uplifts every child.

Beecher Community School District (Beecher High School) would not function properly without the expertise, dedication, and constant presence of our administrative professional: Ms. Trayc Cunningham.

Some of her duties include:
Administrative Assistant to the High School Principal- Mr. Lance Sumpter
Administrative Assistant to the Athletic Director-Mr. Eric Cooper
Co- Chair of BCSD Enrollment Committee

Trayc is the administrative backbone of our school—quietly managing countless moving parts that keep each day running smoothly. From scheduling meetings, calendars, coverage, and events, to providing critical student support, she ensures students feel safe, seen, and supported. Trayc is often the first point of contact for families, offering parent assistance, answering urgent questions, solving problems, and calming concerns with professionalism and care.
Beyond what is visible, Trayc handles the unnoticed administrative duties that many never see—managing confidential information, coordinating communication, responding to last‑minute emergencies, tracking documentation, supporting school leadership, and ensuring compliance and follow‑through. These behind‑the‑scenes responsibilities are essential, and without them, instruction, operations, and family engagement would be interrupted .
Simply put, our schools cannot run without the consistency, trust, and excellence Trayc provides every single day.
Trayc participated in an interview and her responses are below
1. What inspired you to work in education, and what led you to your current role at BHS?
My journey in education began in 1991 when I became a parent volunteer with the Beecher Head Start Program. As a proud Beecher graduate, I have always had a strong desire to give back to the community that helped shape who I am today What initially motivated me was simply wanting to be an involved and present parent in my child’s education.
That involvement opened doors I never expected. Volunteering led to opportunities to substitute within the Head Start program, where I discovered a passion for supporting students, families, and staff. Along the way, a teacher recognized my commitment and encouraged me to enroll in college—an act of belief that truly changed my life. That encouragement, paired with my dedication to Beecher, ultimately guided me into the role I am honored to serve in today.
2.Describe a typical day in your role—what are some responsibilities people may not realize are part of your job?
BUSY!! I call substitutes, cover classrooms, and anywhere else I'm needed. I'm supposed to be at work at 7:30am , but I start my day at 6:00am to get a head start. Somedays I am a nurse, counselor, social worker and just a mom to the students.

3. How do you support school leaders, teachers, and students during busy or challenging times?

Maintaining organization, covering Mr. Sumpter by taking a lot off his plate such as, Thinking ahead. securing lessons, attendance. I also make sure students are feed everyday and most importantly letting them know they are loved (as she tears up).

4 What skills or personal qualities do you think are most important for success in an administrative role?

Leaders have to be strong, have passion for the job and have tough skin. People think that being a secretary is just typing, but there is more than that.

5. What advice would you give to someone interested in becoming an administrative professional in education?

Again as she tears up, Being ready to love students that I can't take home. No matter what their behavior I will always let them know I love them. Basically, I'm their other mom/caregiver.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Trayc Cunningham

Beecher Community School District extends its deepest appreciation to Ms. Cunningham for her unwavering dedication, experience, and the unique motherly love she brings to our school community each and every day.

Beecher Community Schools are stronger, warmer, and more connected because of you, Trayc. We are grateful for your commitment, your wisdom, and the love you share so freely with our community.

Thank you for all you do—and for who you are.
